A lot of planning goes into your wedding day… from dress to the beautiful wine country venue to the caterers, photographer and DJ. But let’s not forget the importance of planning your makeup. Here are three reasons I recommend committing to a makeup trial.
1) You want to make sure you have hired the right person for the job and that you vibe on the vision of your big day and that the personality of your makeup artist works with who you are. You are likely going to be anxious if not a little stressed on your big day, so you want to find someone who has a calm, soothing manner so they won’t amp you up on your big day. I firmly believe you should not commit financially to your makeup and hair team without having had a consult at the very least, and ideally a trial, even if this means having a trial eight months before your big day. You can always have another trial closer to the date of your wedding if you feel like you may want to go in a different direction with your look.
2) Nailing down your makeup look in advance will take the pressure off on your wedding day. You will have decided what your colors are, how long a lash is appropriate and you will have a chance to wear that makeup out and take some photos both in daylight and in the evening, so you can see how various lighting conditions impact the look. As well you can get your fiancé’s feedback as well as that of your friends.
3) Your makeup artist may offer you some great tips for how to look your best on your big day, such as dermaplaning baby hairs aka “peach fuzz” so your makeup goes on smoother, either dying or microblading your eyebrows to give them more definition and/or getting them professionally waxed, and getting a microdermabrasion facial a week before your big day to ensure your skin isn’t flaky and to give you a natural glow. These are just a few of several ideas your makeup artist may suggest that will help you get the most out of your wedding makeup look.
